Feb half term ideas at The Museum of Somerset

  • When? TBC

The gardens are carpeted with snowdrops at this time of year, so it’s a great time to visit.

Nature Explorers, Fyne Court

Pick up a Nature Explorer backpack from the Snug and head off to explore the wintry woods at Fyne Court. Along the way, have a go at identifying birds and challenge your family to take on a sensory scavenger hunt through the grounds.

The Bird of Prey Project, near Bath

The Bird of Prey Project in Newton St Loe near Bath, Somerset, is a multi-award-winning visitor attraction and registered charity dedicated to the conservation and welfare of birds of prey. What’s on in Somerset February half term 2026: snowdrop festivals

East Lambrook Festival of snowdrops

  • When? Open February to October

This little garden contains a whopping 150 varieties of snowdrop – marvel at drifts of snowdrops blanketing the famed ‘ditch’, see the lawn glow purple with crocus, seek out the metal snowdrop sculptures by a local artist, gaze at snowdrop art, buy snowdrops and warm up with tea and cake at the cafe.

Forde Abbey Snowdrop weekends

  • When? Weekends in February 2026

Forde Abbey gardens will be open every weekend in February for Snowdrop spotting. Picture swathes of snowdrops on the drive, banks and lawns and scattered in the beds and borders – beautiful. 

Shepton Snowdrops 2026

  • When? 20-21 February 2026

James Allen, the first person to breed Snowdrops from the wild, was born in Shepton Mallet. The Snowdrop Project celebrates his legacy, the history and heritage of the town and the beauty of the snowdrop. Each year thousands of bulbs are planted on roadsides, roundabouts and public spaces.

The Snowdrop Festival includes specialist plant sales, workshops, art and crafts, and poetry and photography competitions.

Free things to do half term: Yeovil Country Park

Get ready to celebrate, Saxon style! Drop-in wassail activities will be taking place at Yeovil Country Park from 1.30pm-4.50pm. No need to book, just turn up on the day. Countryside crafts, necklace making, beating drums, a children’s trail, traditional music and dance, pooh sticks, face painting, leaf crown-making hot food from West Scout Group and drink, marshmallow-tasting fires, and ghost-scaring ceremonies.
