February half term trail at Dunster Castle

This February, don your wellies and enjoy a stomp around the gardens on Dunster Castle’s half term trail. Afterwards, warm up with a treat at the café or one of the village’s charming tea rooms.

Feb half term ideas at The Museum of Somerset
- When? TBC
During February half term, Entry to the museum is free, with a suggested £5 donation. Half-term children’s activities cost £2, and trails are £1. Open Tuesday to Saturday. More info on the museum’s February half term 2026 Somerset.

Somerset Coalfield Life, Radstock Museum

Snowdrop month at Bishop’s Palace, Wells

The gardens at Bishop’s Palace are starting to wake up from their winter hibernation.
The gardens are carpeted with snowdrops at this time of year, so it’s a great time to visit.

Nature Explorers, Fyne Court

Pick up a Nature Explorer backpack from the Snug and head off to explore the wintry woods at Fyne Court. Along the way, have a go at identifying birds and challenge your family to take on a sensory scavenger hunt through the grounds.
Afterwards, pop into the snug and get creative with colouring while browsing second hand books.

Fun things to do in half term for kids at Mendip Activity Centre
If you’re talking fun things to do in February, there are over 20 activities to choose from at Mendip Activity Centre, all led by fully-qualified instructors. Choose from abseiling, archery, tobogganing, axe throwing, assault courses, canoeing, caving, frisbee golf and more!
AND, give your winter adventures a glow-up with open-air disco tobogganing for 4-12 year olds! Boogie on down to groovy tunes, strike poses at far-out photo ops, swoosh down the slope, and peg it back uphill on repeat.
Want to join the party? Adults can have a go when you book exclusive use of half the slope for up to eight tobogganers. So grab some friends, book your spot and let the good times slide.
Wall Eden Adventure

February half term holidays 2026 at Ferne Animal Sanctuary

Join Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s annual Pet Celebration for a fun-filled day, featuring a scenic social dog walk, a dog first aid course, and a mini pet photoshoot.
There’s also a pet photo competition, arts and crafts for kids, and plenty of family activities. Entry is £5 for adults, £1 for children.

The Bird of Prey Project, near Bath
The Bird of Prey Project in Newton St Loe near Bath, Somerset, is a multi-award-winning visitor attraction and registered charity dedicated to the conservation and welfare of birds of prey. Home to 24 resident raptors and owls, the site features active conservation programs and a certified Rehabilitation Hospital.
Experience over 20 different species of hawks, owls, falcons and twice daily flying displays. Get up close and personal in a private, guided experience – fly their birds yourself during a Hawk Walk or Owl Encounter.

What’s on in Somerset February half term 2026: snowdrop festivals
East Lambrook Festival of snowdrops
- When? Open February to October
This little garden contains a whopping 150 varieties of snowdrop – marvel at drifts of snowdrops blanketing the famed ‘ditch’, see the lawn glow purple with crocus, seek out the metal snowdrop sculptures by a local artist, gaze at snowdrop art, buy snowdrops and warm up with tea and cake at the cafe.
Adults: £7, pre-booked groups of 10 or more: £6.50, Children under 16: Free entry. More info here.
Forde Abbey Snowdrop weekends
- When? Weekends in February 2026
Forde Abbey gardens will be open every weekend in February for Snowdrop spotting. Picture swathes of snowdrops on the drive, banks and lawns and scattered in the beds and borders – beautiful.
Shepton Snowdrops 2026
- When? 20-21 February 2026
James Allen, the first person to breed Snowdrops from the wild, was born in Shepton Mallet. The Snowdrop Project celebrates his legacy, the history and heritage of the town and the beauty of the snowdrop. Each year thousands of bulbs are planted on roadsides, roundabouts and public spaces.
The Snowdrop Festival includes specialist plant sales, workshops, art and crafts, and poetry and photography competitions.

Free things to do half term: Yeovil Country Park

Get ready to celebrate, Saxon style! Drop-in wassail activities will be taking place at Yeovil Country Park from 1.30pm-4.50pm. No need to book, just turn up on the day. Countryside crafts, necklace making, beating drums, a children’s trail, traditional music and dance, pooh sticks, face painting, leaf crown-making hot food from West Scout Group and drink, marshmallow-tasting fires, and ghost-scaring ceremonies.
The wassail ceremony takes place from 5pm onwards. Bring pots, pans, or tambourines! More info on their Facebook page.

Weston Museum offers lots of fun activities in February, including a Pirate Messy Play Day (27 February, 10-11am, 12-1pm). Bring a towel and a change of clothes!

American Museum and Gardens, near Bath
Journey through 700 years of American history at American Museum and Gardens, at Claverton Manor. Explore artefacts from pioneers, Native Americans, and the Civil War, see Mount Vernon’s garden replica, play area and stunning views over Limpley Stoke Valley.
