Looking for the best Christmas markets in Somerset? From Bath’s famous wooden chalets to independent makers’ markets, village Christmas fairs and food-filled festive events, Somerset has everything from big, bustling Christmas shopping events to smaller village gatherings where you can support local makers and soak up some proper community spirit.

Give me a browse around the stalls, the smell of Bratwurst in the air and a cup of something mulled, and I’m a happy lady. If you like Christmas shopping stall-style, chatting to local makers, finding unique one-of-a-kind gifts and with lots of delicious, low-mile food produce thrown in, I’ve done the hard part for you and rounded up Christmas markets in Somerset taking place in 2026, including events in Taunton, Wells, Frome, Yeovil, Glastonbury, South Somerset and along the West Somerset coast. You’ll find dates, opening times and links to the organisers wherever details are available.

Some smaller events are still awaiting confirmation, so I’ve highlighted these rather than guessing. Always check the official event website before travelling, especially if you’re making a special trip.

Taunton Christmas Markets 2026

Taunton’s festive line-up this year includes a town-centre street party, a craft market in one of Somerset’s loveliest gardens. Here are the Christmas markets in and around Taunton, in date order.

The Rural Living Show Taunton, Kings College Prep School

• When: Saturday 21 November, 10am-5pm; Sunday 22 November, 10am-4pm
• Where: King’s College Prep School, Kingston Road, Taunton TA2 8AA
• Entry: £5, under-16s and carers free

Now in its 32nd year, the Rural Living Show is a fixture of the Somerset festive calendar. Expect stalls from artisans, designers, makers and producers from across the South West, a food village, live demos, alpacas and free children’s crafts. Every penny raised goes to Children’s Hospice South West.

Taunton WinterFest 2026

• When: Sunday 22 November, 10am-8pm. Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm
• Where: North Street and East Street, Taunton town centre, TA1 1LH
• Entry: free to browse

Taunton’s WinterFest is a jam-packed day of market stalls, live music and performances, funfair rides and Yuletide characters, building up to the town’s Christmas light switch-on at 6pm. Extra fairground rides often open on the Saturday too. More info on Taunton WinterFest

Sheppy’s Christmas Craft Fair, Bradford-on-Tone

• When: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, 10am-4pm
• Where: Sheppy’s Cider Farm, Three Bridges Farm, Bradford-on-Tone, Taunton TA4 1ER
• Entry: free
• Good to know: parking is limited

Christmas Market at Hestercombe

• When: Friday 4 and Saturday 5 December, 10am-4pm
• Where: Hestercombe Gardens, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton TA2 8LG
• Entry: £8 adults, cheaper after 3pm, under 15s free

Get ready for some festive cheer – the Hestercombe Christmas Market is back! Teaming up with The Somerset Collective, they’re bringing together 60 fabulous, eco-friendly local makers packed with handmade gifts and gorgeous treats.

eat:Taunton

• When: Saturday 12 December
• Where: Hammet Street and up East Street, Taunton
• Entry: free

The town centre comes alive with a celebration of local food, drink and community at the festive edition of eat:Taunton. Come hungry. More info on eat:Taunton

Yeovil, Street and South Somerset Christmas Markets 2026

Christmas at Clarks Village, Street

• When: 7–10 November, then 29 November to Christmas Eve
• Where: Clarks Village, Street
• Entry: free

From baubles to bath bombs and crystals to crêpes, discover festive market stalls, hand-crafted gifts and foodie treats, with live music to get you in the festive spirit. The outlet stores stay open late on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in the run-up to Christmas, and the Festive Ice Rink opens in November 2026. More info on Christmas at Clarks Village.

eat:Yeovil Christmas Market 

• When: Saturday 14 November
• Where: Middle Street and The Triangle, Yeovil town centre
• Entry: free

Yeovil’s festive eat: festival brings dozens of local producers into the town centre, so it’s a cracking place to pick up edible gifts, cheese, chutneys and something warming to eat as you browse. More info on eat:Yeovil

Lytes Cary Manor Christmas Market, near Somerton

• When: Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, 10am–3pm
• Where: Lytes Cary Manor, Charlton Mackrell, near Somerton
• Entry: the market is free; normal admission applies to the house, garden and estate

Local artists fill the historic barns and courtyards of this pretty National Trust manor house with handmade gifts. No booking needed, and children of all ages are welcome. More info on Lytes Cary Christmas Market.

East Coker Pre-School Christmas Market

When: Saturday 14 November, 11am-3pm
Where: East Coker Village Hall, East Coker
Entry: free

Lots of stalls to kick off the Christmas shopping, with light refreshments and a raffle in this pretty village just outside Yeovil. Good to know: there’s parking on site. More info on East Coker Christmas Market

Norton Sub Hamdon Christmas Fair

• When: Saturday 21 November, 11am-3pm
• Where: Norton Sub Hamdon Village Hall

Stalls, Christmas gifts, refreshments, a raffle and more, at the foot of Ham Hill. More info.

Extend your day: blow away the cobwebs with a walk up Ham Hill afterwards.

Ilminster Christmas Lights and Christmas Market

• When: Sunday 22 November; the light switch-on countdown starts at 7pm
• Where: Market Square and Silver Street, Ilminster
• Entry: free

Ilminster’s lights stretch from Market Square through West Street and Silver Street, and this year the organisers are planning a Christmas market in Silver Street, alongside food, drinks and puppet shows. More info on Ilminster Christmas lights.

Christmas Craft Fair, Brewers Arms, South Petherton

• When: Sunday 29 November, 3-6pm
• Where: The Brewers Arms, South Petherton

Taking place at the same time as South Petherton Christmas light switch-on, you can pop into the most festive of pubs, for a winter pint, browse some crafts, hear live music and watch as the pretty village is lit up for Christmas. More info.

Wincanton Christmas Fair, Wincanton Racecourse

• When: Tuesday 1 December, 10am-4pm
• Where: Wincanton Racecourse
• Entry: £5, with proceeds to Children’s Hospice South West

After 25 years, this is the very last Wincanton Christmas Fair. Around 50 independent stalls sell quality gifts under a heated marquee, and there’s a luxury hamper raffle too. More info on Wincanton Christmas Fair.

Langport Christmas Market and Fireworks

• When: Saturday 5 December, 10am-6pm; quiet fireworks at 4.45pm at Cocklemoor
• Where: Langport town centre

Market stalls, local food and drink, mulled cider, carols and live entertainment, rounded off with autism- and pet-friendly quiet fireworks. Bring a torch and cash for the collection buckets, and walk if you can, as parking is limited. More info.

Spirit Gymnastics Academy Christmas Market, Yeovil

When: Saturday 5 December, 1.30-5pm
Where: Spirit Gymnastics Academy, Yeovil

An indoor Christmas market and Santa’s Grotto, all under one roof at Spirit Gymnastics Academy. Local choirs bring the festive cheer while you browse stalls of gifts, crafts and festive treats, with cakes, bakes and a pizza van to keep everyone fed.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary Christmas Fayre, near Chard

• When: Sunday 6 December; the animal blessing is at 4pm
• Where: Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Wambrook, near Chard

Join Ferne Animal Sanctuary for some fundraising fun at their Christmas Fayre, with a variety of stalls and a visit from Santa Claus. Then head to the barn for the sanctuary’s heartwarming annual animal blessing at 4pm, followed by Christmas carols and mince pies.

Prince of Wales Christmas Market and Carols, Ham Hill

When: Saturday 12 December, 12-4pm; carols on the hill 2-4pm
Where: The Prince of Wales, Ham Hill, Stoke sub Hamdon TA14 6RW
Entry: free to browse; Santa visits £5

The Stoke Sub Hamdon Band leads the carols at The Prince of Wales Pub, Ham Hill from 2pm and Father Christmas will be popping in to meet children, each of whom gets a little gift (£5 – book ahead at the pub from 1 December 2026). You can also pick up a hand-selected Christmas tree, with delivery to the surrounding villages. Limited parking.

Extend your day: make it a winter walk around Ham Hill Country Park before the carols.

Red Lion Christmas Market, Babcary

When: Saturday 12 December, 10am-3pm
Where: The Red Lion, Babcary TA11 7ED

The Red Lion in Babcary, tucked between Somerton and Castle Cary, is hosting a Christmas market just in time for those last few presents. Make a morning of it and stay on for lunch at the pub. More info on the Red Lion Christmas Market.

Palmers Garden Centre, Yeovil

Wells, Glastonbury and Mendip Christmas Markets 2026

This corner of Somerset has some of the county’s most atmospheric settings for a Christmas market: a medieval bishop’s palace, the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey and a vast tithe barn. More ideas for the area are in my Glastonbury guide.

Mendip Christmas Fair, Redhill

• When: Saturday 14 November, 10am-5pm; Sunday 15 November, 10am-3.30pm
• Where: Aldwick Estate, Redhill, on the northern edge of the Mendips
• Entry: £5, children free

The annual charity Mendip Christmas Fair raises money for local causes, including Children’s Hospice South West and the Guild of Friends of the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

Christmas Artisan Market, Bishop’s Palace Wells

• When: Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, 10am-4pm
• Where: The Bishop’s Palace, Wells
• Entry: £9 adults, £5 children, including the Palace and gardens; market-only tickets £7.50 on the day from 2pm

Around 70 local makers, craftspeople and food and drink producers sell handmade gifts, decorations, jewellery and crafts, with live music and a food and drink marquee packed with festive treats. Your ticket includes the medieval Palace and its 14 acres of RHS Partner gardens. More info on Bishop’s Palace Christmas Artisan Market.

Frost Fayre Glastonbury 2026

• When: Saturday 28 November; stalls from 10am, official opening at midday, lights switch-on at 5pm, finishing around 6pm
• Where: Glastonbury town centre
• Entry: free

On the last Saturday in November, Glastonbury celebrates peace and goodwill with stalls, late-night shopping, buskers and street performers across five stages with its famous Frost Fayre. Kids can enjoy fairground rides in St Dunstan’s Car Park, storytelling and lantern-making, before the Christmas tree lights are switched on in Market Square. Look out for Father Frost, who joins the Mayor and the Town Crier.

Good to know: use the Park & Ride from Herbies Field, which runs from 8am to 7.30pm; donations welcome.

Medieval Christmas Market Weekend, Glastonbury Abbey

• When: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, 10am-4pm (last entry 3.15pm)
• Where: Glastonbury Abbey
• Entry: free for the whole weekend

During Frost Fayre weekend, the Abbey hosts festive gift and craft stalls, with a Medieval Market at its heart. Warm up with mulled cider or mead from the bar, and listen to local artists performing carols and festive favourites. Tithe Barn Christmas Market, Pilton

• When: Sunday 6 December, 9.30am-3.30pm
• Where: Pilton Tithe Barn, Pilton BA4 4EE
• Entry: free, with free parking

Discover beautiful gifts, browse stalls packed with unique finds, and enjoy food and drinks while soaking up the Christmas atmosphere in the Tithe Barn Christmas Market in Pilton. The market offers disabled access.

Visitors are encouraged to use Park & Ride services as parking in town is limited and regulated. Additionally, the market supports accessibility, offering wheelchair-friendly shuttle buses and designated parking for Blue Badge holders. More info on Frome Xmas market.

Wells Christmas Market 2026

• When: Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December; times to be confirmed
• Where: Wells Market Place and across the city centre
• Entry: free

England’s smallest city puts on a big festive show. Discover seasonal gifts, local festive treats, Yuletide tipples, festive displays, family activities and live entertainment at Wells Christmas Market 2026.

Frome, Shepton Mallet and East Somerset Christmas markets 2026

Kilver Court Christmas Pop-up, Shepton Mallet

• When: Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, 9.30am-4.30pm
• Where: Kilver Court & Gardens, Shepton Mallet
• Entry: free, no booking needed

The Christmas Pop-Up at Kilver Court brings together British makers and independent brands selling ceramics, prints, homewares, jewellery, fashion, food and accessories.

Shepton Mallet Christmas Market

• When: Sunday 29 November, 11am-5pm
• Where: Shepton Mallet town centre
• Entry: free

The Shepton Mallet Sunday Market’s festive finale brings together a curated mix of local traders: vintage, designer-makers, food, antiques, home and garden and art, alongside kids’ entertainment, street food, live music and DJs, all building up to the town’s Christmas lights.

The Cheese and Grain Christmas Gift Market, Frome 

• When: Saturday 5 December, 9am–2pm
• Where: Cheese and Grain, Market Yard, Frome BA11 1BE
• Entry: free

The Cheese and Grain fills with stalls selling unique gifts, handmade crafts, festive decorations, cards and seasonal food. Hunt down chutneys, cheese, chocolates, cakes, mince pies and something to toast the season with. It’s indoors, so it’s a good shout if the weather turns. Frome Christmas Light Switch-On and Lantern Parade 2026

• When? 27 November 2026, 10am-3pm

Not a market as such, but Frome’s lantern parade and light switch-on is one of the loveliest festive evenings in Somerset. Check here for timings and more info nearer the time.

Bath Christmas Market 2026

• When: Thursday 26 November to Sunday 13 December. Monday-Wednesday 10am-7pm, Thursday-Saturday 10am-8pm, Sunday 10am–6pm
• Where: Bath city centre, around Bath Abbey
• Entry: free

The big one. Bath’s award-winning Christmas market fills the cobbled streets of the World Heritage city with wooden chalets selling artisan gifts, festive food and drink, with more than 250 businesses taking part last year. Visit on a weekday if you can, and stay into the evening when the lights are at their best.

Good to know: weekends are very busy. Use the park and ride or come by train rather than driving into the centre.

North Somerset Christmas Markets 2026

eat:Weston and the Christmas lights

• When: Saturday 21 November
• Where: Italian Gardens, Weston-super-Mare
• Entry: free

The eat:Weston Christmas food festival will take place in the Italian Gardens on the same day as the festive lights switch-on. Extend your day: find somewhere for dinner in my guide to the best places to eat in Weston-super-Mare.

Christmas Market Weston Museum

• When: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, 10am-3pm
• Where: Weston Museum, Weston-super-Mare
• Entry: free

Visit Weston museum for a free Christmas market to browse local stalls, enjoy seasonal treats at Clara’s Café and follow a children’s trail to find Santa’s missing reindeer (50p). Santa will be there both days (to visit for free) for free photos and a chat (no presents).

A Posset Christmas Market 2026, Portishead

• When: Saturday 5 December, 2-6pm
• Where: Portishead High Street
• Entry: free

Formerly the Portishead Victorian Evening and Craft Fayre, A Posset Christmas Market is the town’s largest street market. Expect craft stalls, food, fairground rides, live entertainment and Santa’s Grotto, with proceeds funding the town’s Christmas lights.

Uphill Village Christmas Bazaar 2026

• When: Saturday 5 December, 2-5pm
• Where: Uphill Village Victory Hall, Uphill

Uphill Village Society’s Christmas Bazaar has stalls of gifts and handmade crafts, a visit from Santa and a Christmas hamper raffle.

eat:Nailsea

When: Saturday 5 December
Where: High Street and Crown Glass Shopping Centre, Nailsea
Entry: free

Clevedon Christmas Market 2026

• When: Sunday 6 December, 10am-2pm
• Where: The seafront, Hill Road and Alexandra Road, plus indoor stalls at Princes Hall, Clevedon BS21 7SZ
• Entry: free

Clevedon’s monthly market trail winds from the seafront opposite the Victorian pier up through the town, with indoor stalls at Princes Hall. December’s market is the last before Christmas.

Bridgwater and Sedgemoor Christmas markets 2026

North Petherton Christmas Market, The Walnut Tree Hotel

• When: Friday 4 December, 4-8pm
• Where: The Walnut Tree Hotel, North Petherton

Lots of favourite stalls, plus a few fabulous newbies, with food, drink and entertainment. More info on North Petherton Christmas Market.

Bridgwater Christmas lights and market

• When: 28 November 2026.

Last year Bridgwater’s ‘Snowflakes and Shopping’ day closed Cornhill and the High Street for market stalls, street food and festive entertainment, with Father Christmas leading the way to the light switch-on at 6pm and a squibbing display on the Town Bridge.

West Somerset and Exmoor Christmas markets 2026

Minehead Station Christmas Market and Train, West Somerset Railway

• When: Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, 10am–4pm
• Where: Minehead Station, West Somerset Railway
• Entry: free to the market; train tickets extra

Get into the festive spirit at Minehead Station’s Christmas Market. Browse seasonal stalls selling handmade gifts, crafts and festive treats, with free entry to the market.

For an extra-special day out, hop aboard a pre-booked, steam-hauled train from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, travelling through the Somerset countryside. Trains depart at 10.30am, returning from Minehead at 3.30pm. You can also board at Williton or Watchet. Optional festive extras include hampers, hot chocolate and cookie packages, and Christmas goodie bags. Find details and book tickets on the West Somerset Railway website.

Dulverton By Starlight

• When: Sunday 6 December, 2–6.15pm
• Where: Dulverton town centre
• Entry: free

A festive afternoon in the pretty Exmoor town of Dulverton, with Christmas market, craft stalls, street entertainment, live music and a fireworks display above All Saints Church to round off the celebrations. Join the local choirs for a good old singalong beside the Christmas tree in Bank Square and pop in to see Santa at the Heritage Centre. Running from 2pm to 6.15pm. More info.
