During the festive period, there are lots of Christmas markets in Somerset to potter around, from famous, long-standing annual events, to smaller village hall affairs. All promise unique, local, handmade crafts, festive treats and oodles of Yuletide cheer. I’ve put together a list of Christmas markets in Somerset taking place this festive season in order of when they’ll be happening.

Bath Christmas Market 2023
2023 dates: 23 November-10 December
Now in its 21st year, the Bath Christmas Market takes place around Queen Square, nestled between iconic monuments. Walk through a winter wonderland in the centre of Bath, which will be lined with over 150 traditional artisan makers in twinkling wooden chalets, as the city oozes festive cheer.
Christmas at Clarks Village, Street
2023 dates: 9-12 November, 24 November–24 December
From baubles to bath bombs, crystals to crepes, fudge to Yorkshire pudding wraps, discover festive market stalls, browse hand-crafted gifts, sample foodie treats and hear live musical performances guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit. There’s also late night shopping at the outlet stores from 9am-8pm Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.
Christmas Craft Fair, Taunton
2023 dates: 9am-5.30pm, 2-17 December
The annual artisan craft market has been trading in Taunton at Christmas for over 15 years and will return again this year, on Fore Street, in the town Centre near the Christmas tree. So get your winter warmers on to browse unique hand-crafted gifts, textiles, jewellery, fused glass, preserves, ceramics, wood turning, knitted accessories, animal portraits, clothing and lots more!
Short-term/one-off Christmas markets in Somerset
Christmas Market Weston Museum
2023 dates: 2-3 December
Taking place over a whole weekend due to last year’s popularity. Clara’s Café will have it’s usual tempting treats, alongside some seasonal specialities. A Christmas children’s trail will have you hunting through the galleries to find Santa’s missing reindeer (available from the front desk for 50p each) and Santa will be visiting between 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.20pm for photos and a Christmas natter (does not include a present). Entry to the Christmas Market Weekend is free.
Christmas Artisan Market, Bishop’s Palace Wells
2023 dates: 4-5 November
Find gift inspiration, decorations, cards and live entertainment in the remarkable medieval palace, with a variety of enticing stalls offering hand-made and unique gifts.
The Bishop’s Table café will be serving a seasonal menu with views over the croquet lawn.

Christmas Market at Hestercombe
2023 dates: 9am-5pm, 17-19 November
Explore the bustling annual Hestercombe Gardens’ Christmas Market near Taunton. Featuring festive stalls bursting with locally-sourced gifts, delicious treats and unique handmade items.
Warm up with festive food and drink, including crumbly mince pies, luxury hot chocolate, and mulled wine.
Visitors to the market will receive free admission to the gardens, house and contemporary art gallery – just show proof of your Christmas Market admission at the Visitor Reception desk.
Christmas Fair, Low Ham Church near Langport
2023 dates: 18 November
A unique setting at the beautiful Low Ham Church in the Field, this local Christmas fair features local crafters and traders and the chance to pick up a hot tea, coffee and mince pie.
Pilton Christmas Market, Tithe Barn
2023 dates: 24-26 November
A fabulous two-day Christmas Market in a beautiful medieval Tithe barn in Pilton. Featuring 30 local traders selling handmade gifts, plus hot drinks, mulled wine, cider, snacks and a brazier fire to keep you warm.
Exmoor Christmas Craft Fair, Porlock
2023 dates: 25-26 November
A chance to meet the craftsmen and women of Exmoor who make unique and unusual gifts and take commissions for the perfect pressie. Free entrance to Porlock Village Hall, free parking. Refreshments available, charity draw.
The Somerset Collective Pop-Up Shop, Jordan’s Courtyard, Ilminster
2023 dates: 25 November, 9am-4pm
The Somerset Collective is a collection of carefully curated independent Somerset retailers who pop up in beautiful locations in The South West, raising money for charity. On 11 November, around 20 local businesses will be popping up at Jordan’s Courtyard near Ilminster, alongside the businesses already based there, such as The Cottage Garden, The Pastry Bench, The Fine and Dandy Club, Old Mill Furniture & Interiors, Kate Walker Bridal and Weave & Wood.
Do all your festive shopping under one roof while raising money for charity – 10% of sales will be donated to Taunton-based charity, Somerset Counselling Centre. Parking and entry are free.
Frost Fayre, Glastonbury
2023 dates: 12-6pm, 25 November
Celebrate peace and goodwill and enjoy late night shopping and stalls in Glastonbury town centre on the last Saturday in November. Musicians and street performers will be infusing this festive event with the special brand of Glastonbury magic. Find Father Christmas at St Benedict’s School between 12 and 4pm.
The Rural Living Show, Taunton
2023 dates: 25 Nov – 26 November
A firm favourite in the Somerset festive calendar, The Rural Living Show’s annual Christmas market will return to Kings Hall School, to raise vital funds for The Children’s Hospice South West.
Hosting a huge selection of local designers, makers, producers and crafts people, as well as a popular food and drink section, the show showcases the best the region has to offer in unique artisan craft and local produce.
Kingsbury Episcopi Christmas Market
2023 dates: 12-3pm, 3 December
Festive cheer at Kingsbury Episcopi Community Centre, in the form of craft stalls, a hog roast, bar, mulled wine, luxury hot chocolate, live entertainment from Kingsbury Episcopi Band and Santa’s grotto!
Annual Christmas Craft Fair, Brewers Arms, South Petherton
2023 dates: 3-6pm, 26 November
Taking place at the same time as South Petherton Christmas light switch-on, you can pop into the most festive of pubs, for a winter pint, browse some crafts, hear live music from Guitarist on Wheels and watch as the pretty village is lit up for Christmas.
Barrington Christmas Fair 2023
2023 dates: 2 December, 3-7pm
Head to Barrington Village Hall to shop from a selection of local craft and produce stalls. There’ll also be hot drinks, mulled wine and Santa Claus will be paying a visit!
Uphill Village Christmas Bazaar 2023
2023 dates: 2-5pm, 2 December
Uphill Village Society is holding its Christmas Bazaar at Uphill Village Victory Hall and you could walk away with a Christmas hamper at the end of it! There’s also opportunities to meet Santa, pick up some Christmas gifts or buy some handmade crafts from the stalls.
Weston Museum Christmas Fair 2023
2023 dates: 10am-3pm, 2-3 December
Over 20 stallholders selling their wonderful products. Supporting charity, The Friends of Weston Museum – will be there with a fundraising tombola, to raise funds for Phase 2 of the museum’s redevelopment.
There will also be an appearance from Santa Claus between 10am – 3pm for photos and a Christmas natter.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary Annual Christmas Fayre
2023 dates: 2-3 December
Join Ferne Animal Sanctuary for some fundraising fun, a variety of stalls, and Santa Claus followed by an animal blessing, Christmas carols and mince pies from 4.30-6.30pm on 2 December.
Clevedon Winter Market 2023
2023 Dates: 7 December, 6-9pm
Held under the twinkly Christmas illuminations, expect Christmas market stalls and festive street food, traditional fete games for young children, late night shopping, live music from local choirs and bands, a VW Cruz parade and Father Christmas himself!

2023 dates: 9 December
Free to attend local festive food and drink festival held in the Quedam Shopping Centre, showcasing over 60 local producers.
The Cheese and Grain Christmas Gift Market, Frome
2023 dates: 9am-2pm, 18 November (Christmas Makers Market), 2 December, 16 December (Christmas Gift Market)
The Cheese and Grain’s Festive Food and Drink Fair is THE place to get all of your Christmas party food and drink in one place. Hunt down chutneys and jams, cheese, chocolates, cakes, mince pies, beers, wines, gins and Christmas hampers!
Wells Christmas Market
2023 dates: 9am-3pm, 16 December
Wells Christmas Market 2023 will take place in Wells Market Place and on the Bishop’s Palace Green. Pick up seasonal gifts, sample local festive treats and Yuletide tipples, and watch live entertainment.
